Shiregreen

Forge work with the Shire Missional Community and St James' & St Christopher's church to provide youthwork in Shiregreen.

We have been working with young people in the area for many years now.
The first group we ever ran was a small group called 'Toast' named by the young people and this was a follow on from the kids club 'Stomp.'  Lots of the leaders also live in the area and are part of the community there seeing the young people day in day out.

 Youth Club

This is a drop in youth club that meets 7-9pm on a Wednesday night in St James' & St Christopher's church hall. For anyone between the ages of 11 to 18 years old.  There are lots of activities to get involved with such as pool, table tennis, football and cooking. There is a nail bar and as much hot chocolate as you can drink.  We have lots of fun and it's a safe place to hang out with your mates and make new friends.
With the group we have also been on lots of trips to Alton Towers, Go-Karting, and to Blackpool to see the illuminations.  We work closely with the young people in the area to run trips they want and get equipment and activities that they want to have in their youth club.

Detached

We have done detached on and off now for over three years.  This is an opportunity for the youth team to get out on the streets and meet young people where they are at.  We have spent many cold nights hanging out at the shops, on the streets and in the park getting to know young people and the issues that they face.  Currently we know over 60 young people from the area.

Express lunch club

This club meets in Firth Park community arts collage on monday lunch time.  We play loads of different games and It's an opportunity for young people to come along and hear Christian teaching on real-life topics and to chat them over with the youth leaders.
